Why Join a Team?

When a new runner or triathlete asks me what the first thing that I would recommend they do, my answer is almost always to join a team in their area! There are so many great reasons why, but here are my top 5:
1. Make new friends: It’s a great way to meet new people and make new friends that have similar goals and interests!
2. Learn from others: You will be able to watch and observe other teammates to pick up tips and tricks, like what to wear, what equipment to get, what to eat and drink, and so much more!
3. Get an extra push: It’s often much easier to push yourself more during a group workout than in a session on your own, and it’s a whole lot more fun too!
4. Find training partners: Once you’ve gotten to know some of your teammates that are at a similar level to you, you can coordinate workouts with them, so you get to do more of your training with others, even if it’s not an official team session!
5. Feel part of a community: Endurance sports is an individual endeavor, but a team community can help motivate, support and inspire you to achieve more than you thought was possible!
