Ironman Wisconsin

  • Madison, WI United States (map)

Come race this amazing event or get inspired as part of the GE cheer crew! We will have the tent up and will be supporting the athletes throughout the day! More information on the race can be found here. Below is our spectator info:

  • Tracking info: Download the Ironman Tracker App, find Ironman Wisconsin and search your athlete’s name!

  • Grit Endurance gear: We recommend that you sport your Grit Endurance gear! Friends and family can purchase GE shirts and hats for 20% through our online store and can pick them up on race day!

  • Swim:

    • The IM swim is at the Monona Terrace with a rolling start beginning at 7AM.

    • We plan to be on the northern helix, probably about half-way up by 6:30AM.

    • Ideal spectating locations for the swim are on the northern helix so you can see the athletes run up it on their way to T1, or at the top of Monona Terrace.

    • Parking: we recommend parking at a parking garage in downtown or at the Alliant Energy Center and taking a shuttle. If driving to the bike course, we recommend parking downtown in a garage versus the Alliant Center for easier access to get out to the country.

    • Give yourself plenty of time in the morning as there will be traffic, road closures, etc.

  • Bike:

    • We are going to spectate the bike course at one of the toughest hills on course “the third bitch”. This is near miles 50 and 90.

    • Drive to this location, park on the side of the road, and walk to Midtown Road which is on the bike course. Take a right on Midtown and walk towards Timber Lane to get to the hill. Look for the GE tent as a reference point!

    • Note that you cannot drive on Midtown Road. We recommend that you take Route 14 to Mineral Point Rd and go west, go south on Pioneer Rd, west on Valley View Rd, then south on Mound View Rd.

    • We recommend stopping for food along the way because the spectating location does not have food, but there is usually a porta poddy at the watch location.

    • Once you see your athlete pass at mile 90, head back to downtown to watch the run

  • Run: We will watch the run from State Street at the 2 areas highlighted in yellow below. We will move between these two locations depending on where our runners are for maximum viewing opportunities. You can see your athlete 8 times during the race by moving just a few blocks as shown here!

• Team Dinner: We will be having a team dinner on Saturday evening at 6pm at Cento. RSVP to Jim@grit-endurance.com if interested!
